Shawn Rohlin plans to graduate in Spring of 2009 with a Ph.D. in Economics from Syracuse University.  His research and teaching interests are in public finance, urban economics, and labor economics.  The first part of Shawn's dissertation analyzes the degree to which changes in state minimum wages affect the location decisions of new businesses.  As of 11/24/2008 this paper has been invited for Revise and Resubmit at the Journal of Urban Economics.  The second part of his dissertation, also submitted to a journal, examines the potential for location-based tax incentives (Enterprise Zones) to have a differential effect on establishment location and employment across industry sectors.  He received a Master's Degree in Economics from Syracuse University in 2006 and two Bachelor's Degrees from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2004, one in Economics and another in Management Information Systems.
